Dry Scalp - Your Normal!!

This time of year so many clients complain about their itchy scalp and flakiness.  DON'T WORRY YOU ARE NORMAL!  Our scalp lacks the moisture it needs to stay hydrated this time of year.  Think about it.... the skin on our arms and legs are sooo very dry this time of year and very flaky.  We use a lot of moisturizer to help control this daily.  Our scalp on the other hand is covered up by our hair and not so easy to put lotion on.  Make sure you are sloughing off the dead skin on your scalp this time of year and using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.  Don't just wash your hair, wash your scalp as well.  I know it's not fun but realize this is just common due to the weather conditions we experience this time of year.  If you are seeing yellow flakes on your scalp then that means bacteria is present and you have dandruff.  That is a scalp condition and you need to use medicated products to control that.  So rest easy knowing that just about everyone you encounter is experience some aspect of dry scalp as well right now!  I recommend using Pureology Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner.  It is all botanical and will definately result in a noticeable difference within your first week of using it!  Stay warm and be nice to your scalp just like you are to those pretty hands, arms, feet and legs!  Happy Winter!!

Winter Weather - Repair those Split Ends!

This time of year everyone is experiencing dry frizzy hair.  When the weather changes from warm to cold, we turn our air conditioners off and our heaters on. Many people don't know that this zaps the moister out of the hair and causes our hair to feel dry.  Unfortunately many of us don't maintain regular haircuts and conditioning treatments during this season.  Pureology has a wonderful line of all botanical products!!  One of my favorites is the Split End Repair product.  Think about it...... the very ends of our hair depending on the length has been growing for 6 mos to a year.  Those ends have been thru many blowdrys,  flat ironing everyday and lack of proper products.  This is a great product and within 2 wks the results are amazing.  This is a wonderful thing to keep your hair long, healthy and from splitting or breaking during these harsh winter months.  Treat your hair right.... products really do matter!

Happy New Year 2011 to everyone.  The New Year always brings about ideas, goals and resolutions that we want to achieve personally in our lives.  One way to always start differently is by looking differently.  There is ALWAYS a way to change your look.  You can change your haircolor, makeup or even try a whole new haircut.  Remember when looking for the haircut and color that are perfect for you, change the way you look from the front.  So many people will do something different to the back of their hair but look exactly the same way from the front.  My suggestion and some different tones of color around your face or cut some cheek level bangs or face framing layers.  This will actually change how you look to everyone!!  Your face shape and skin tone have a lot to do with the best choices for you.  Look through magazines, search online and then consult your Hairstylist for your final decision.  Try something different, even the smallest change can give you the jump start to a NEW YEAR  and a NEW YOU!!!
